Bio-Identical Hormones May Benefit Osteoarthritis

Most of us are familiar with the two hormones estrogen and testosterone. We know that estrogen is essential for women and the same goes for testosterone and men. What many of us haven’t realized is how essential these hormones are to several other functions in our body and how they can ensure quality of health as we age. Well actually women hitting menopause may know because as their hormones fade they enjoy the symptoms of menopause. But these hormones go past the menopause AND andropause years and continue to be necessary in the golden years. I know many critics say that there is no reason people should have the same level of hormones they did in their 20’s but what if an extra boost of hormones could help reduce the side effects of aging and make your quality of life better? Well German researchers discovered that could be the case.

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that causes the breakdown of the joint’s cartilage. As the disease progresses the symptoms become more debilitating and force people to lose jobs or enter into retirement. Around 27 million Americans suffer from this disease and the number is expected to increase over the years. The researchers found that both estrogen and testosterone (Bio-identical hormones) stimulated cartilage growth which would mitigate the effects of Osteoarthritis after it is discovered. Stay Young And Sexy Book Review

The book, Stay Young and Sexy with Bio-Identical Hormones: The Science Explained by Dr. Jonathan V. Wright and Lane Lenard M.D., has been released for a few weeks now and has received really great reviews. In case you are one of those people that is on the fence about bio-identical hormone replacement or just looking for more information this review should provide you with a few reasons to buy the book. It was featured in Life Extension Foundations March issue and was written by Jon Finkel.

A decade after Dr. Jonathan Wright introduced the concept of bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) with the book Natural Hormone Replacement for Women Over 45, in which he explored the benefits of true hormone replacement using bio-identical human hormones, Dr. Wright, along with Dr. Lane Lenard brings to print his newest offering: Stay Young and Sexy with Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement: The Science Explained.

In this follow-up book, Wright and Lane rely on their up-to-date clinical experience in order to highlight little-known scientific studies that form the foundation of support for the safety and benefits of BHRT. The book gets going debunking conventional bio-identical hormone thoughts and theories with the eye-catching title of its opening chapter: Don’t Let Your Doctor Give You Horse Urine!

This chapter refers to the use of conjugated equine estrogens (CEEs) in standard “estrogen therapy.” The use of this phrase rather than the more unpleasant one, horse urine, is not by accident, as the book states: “By carefully manipulating the language, the drug companies have convinced the vast majority of doctors, medical researchers, government regulators, media, and women themselves of an outright falsehood: that CEEs are ‘estrogen’ and that ‘estrogen’ is CEEs.” This redefining of terms has been a cornerstone of insidious patent medicine marketing for nearly a hundred years, and Stay Young blows the whistle on how careful wording has dumped billions of dollars into Big Pharma’s pockets.

Other chapters simply titled “Hormones and the Menstrual Cycle” and “Of Hormones & Drugs and Urine & Yams” act almost as an encyclopedia of everything women need to know about their bodies and hormones, while chapters later in the book answer questions about health and youth maintenance.

The final chapter of the book deals with the politics of bio-identical hormones and why the government is trying to take them away. In this startling climax, readers will get a feel for the real dangers behind government influence when it comes to medicine and what people can do to stay informed.

Suzanne Somers, who wrote the foreword for the book, perhaps says it best: “This is the real science not encumbered by pharmaceutical agendas. These doctors have gone out on a limb to bring the truth so that we can all feel better and live the joyous lives we were meant to enjoy.”

So go out and buy the book, bio-identical hormones can help you start out your summer right!

Bio-identical Hormone Risks and the Natural Way to Solve Them By Dr. Jonathan Wright

Dr. Jonathan V. Wright the author of  Stay Young and Sexy with Bio-identical Hormone Replacement: The Science Explained publishes a monthly newsletter titled Nutrition & Healing. In January it featured this article, “Bio-identical HRT risks you need to know about, And the simple solutions that will solve them—naturally”. I thought I would share this article so that people who do not subscribe to Dr. Wright’s newsletter can enjoy it. Normally I would just embed the article into the blog post but it proved a little too complicated so I’m going to put the link to the PDF and everyone can just click and follow. It’s a long article but full of useful and necessary information if you are already on or are considering taking bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. It’s also a great supplement to Dr. Wright’s new book Stay Young and Sexy.

Hormone Replacement Therapy Could Cause Asthma

Women who used hormone replacement therapy (HRT) were 21% more likely to be diagnosed with asthma than those women who never used HRT.

Women who used estrogen-only HRT were 54% more likely to develop asthma compared to their “natural” menopause counterparts.

Estrogen and asthma pathogenesis have been studied, but the findings are equivocal. Estrogen is known to have both inflammatory and anti-inflammatory effects.
